North Korea Unveils New Jindallae Smartphone at Pyongyang Trade Fair

North Korea showcased the latest Jindallae smartphone models at the Pyongyang Spring International Trade Fair, promoting domestic connectivity via a restricted national intranet despite international sanctions and surveillance concerns.

PYONGYANG : Korea Utara mempamerkan produk teknologi tempatan terbaharu termasuk model telefon pintar Jindallae dalam acara Pameran Perdagangan Antarabangsa Musim Bunga Pyongyang yang berlangsung minggu ini.

Meskipun terpencil secara diplomatik dan berdepan sekatan ekonomi yang ketat akibat program nuklear serta senjatanya, Pyongyang terus mempromosikan peranti tersebut sebagai kemudahan untuk rakyatnya kekal berhubung melalui rangkaian domestik yang dikawal rapi. Pameran berskala besar ini disertai oleh lebih 290 perusahaan dari pelbagai negara termasuk Russia, China, Mongolia, Switzerland, dan Thailand. Model terbaharu Jindallae tampil dengan pelbagai pilihan warna dan dilengkapi modul kamera bulat besar dengan pelbagai lensa.

Majoriti daripada 25 juta rakyat Korea Utara tidak mempunyai akses internet global, sebaliknya peranti ini hanya bersambung kepada rangkaian intranet nasional yang sangat terhad. Peranti ini turut dipercayai membantu pihak berkuasa memantau rakyat, dengan laporan mencadangkan ia mampu merakam paparan skrin secara berkala yang disimpan dalam fail tersembunyi. Penganalisis meragui keupayaan pembuatan Korea Utara dan mencadangkan kebanyakan telefon ini dihasilkan oleh syarikat China sebelum dijenamakan semula untuk pasaran tempatan.

Selain Jindallae yang mula diperkenalkan pada 2017, Korea Utara turut mempunyai jenama tempatan lain seperti Arirang dan Phurunhanal. Walaupun sekatan Pertubuhan Bangsa-bangsa Bersatu melarang import perkakasan telefon mudah alih ke negara itu, pameran ini membuktikan produk teknologi berkenaan masih berjaya dipasarkan di sana. -AFP
