Deal requires Ocean Kamp to cap homes at 667, go all-electric, install solar, include traffic management plan
The local nonprofit Preserve Calavera announced Thursday it has agreed to settle its lawsuit over the Ocean Kamp project, an artificial surfing lagoon with a 300-room resort hotel and almost 700 homes approved for the San Luis Rey Valley.
'The next thing is to lay in roads and utilities. We're working with the city, and that will take another eight or 10 months. Once that happens we start building up.' Or digging down, as in the case of the artificial wave pool that will be 'the center of gravity for the whole project,' he said. The waves, hotel and related shops and activities are expected to attract surfing enthusiasts from throughout Southern California and beyond.

Nonprofit service provider Blackbaud settles data breach case for $49.5M with statesThe fundraising software company Blackbaud agreed Thursday to pay $49.5 million to settle claims brought by the attorneys general of all 50 states related to a 2020 data breach that exposed sensitive information from 13,000 nonprofits. Blackbaud provides fundraising software to nonprofits, including universities, hospitals and religious organizations. Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita co-led the investigation with Vermont. His office said health information, Social Security numbers and the financial information of donors or clients of the nonprofits was the type of data that was exposed in the breach. The company did not admit any wrongdoing under the terms of the agreement.
