As it turns out, the walkout — which shut down at least three terminals at the port —"has nothing to do with the contract itself," said Sean Farley, president of ILWU Local 34. On Wednesday, the Pacific Maritime Association sent a statement to SFGATE about the walkout, referring to it as"counterproductive." The statement did not address the ILWU's wage claims complaints.
