The researchers claim that they have found traces of human activity near the boat-shaped formation in the mountains, dating back to between 5500 and 3000 BC.
A team of researchers from Turkey and the US have studied the Durupinar formation on Mount Ararat, Turkey's highest mountain, for about a year. They think that this boat-like site could contain the remains of Noah's Ark, the legendary vessel that saved Noah, his family, and pairs of animalsAccording to the Bible, God told Noah to build a giant ark to escape the flood that would wipe out the evil and wickedness on Earth.
Faruk Kaya, AICU vice rector professor, said that the analysis of rocks and soil from the unique area on the mountain revealed human activity in the region, which coincided with the years after the flood in Noah's Ark legend. He said that this was confirmed by the laboratory results, as reported by The team said that it was impossible to say that Noah's Ark was at the Durupinar site based on the dating. Faruk Kaya, one of the researchers on the project, said that they needed to work for a long time to verify this. He said they agreed to conduct a joint study under the leadership of ITU, Andrew University, and AICU and that the three universities would continue their work in this field in the future, as reported by Turkish news publication Hurriyet.
