It remains the fourth-largest Mega Millions jackpot ever and the sixth-largest lottery prize in U.S. history.Tickets sold in five states — Massachusetts, North Carolina, New York, Wisconsin and two in California — did match five numbers without the Mega Ball or Megaplier and are worth $1 million each.
This is the second time this year that the Mega Millions jackpot has topped $1 billion. A $1.348 billion jackpot, the second-largest in Mega Millions history, was won in Maine on Jan. 13. The largest Mega Millions jackpot ever was $1.537 billion, won on Oct. 23, 2018, in South Carolina.
