Jon Watts has one fear when it came to directing three different SpiderMan actors in SpiderManNoWayHome, saying: 'The only thing I was nervous about is that I’d miss something great.'
Jon Watts opens up about his biggest fears in directing Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire, and Andrew Garfield together in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Returning for the third time to the MCU to round up its Spider-Man trilogy, the filmmaker entered the franchise in 2017 via Spider-Man: Homecoming. He followed it up with the game-changing movie, Spider-Man: Far From Home, which leads to his latest blockbuster that brings together all three eras of live-action Spider-Man movies.
Admittedly, Spider-Man: Far From Home set up a very different threequel, and screenwriters Erik Sommers and Chris McKenna belatedly shared that the original Spider-Man: No Way Home narrative didn't involve the multiverse. But, eventually, they decided to change course and make it the blockbuster's focal point.
The fact that the actors had great chemistry was beneficial for the movie itself, but it probably worsened Watts' fears of missing a good moment among the trio. He also revealed that before filming Holland, Maguire and Garfield's very first scene together, he and the actors huddled to talk about the work they were going to tackle.
At this point, Spider-Man 4 is already in active development, but it's unclear when it might come out or who it could be its director. But even if Watts doesn't return to helm it, he will remain in the MCU by directing the upcoming Fantastic Four film. According to reports, this will be his next project after Spider-Man: No Way Home, so it might not be long before he's back on set again, planning Marvel's first family's introduction. .
