A recall on 2019 and up Ram 1500 to 3500 trucks says that a misaligned striker for the tailgate latch could cause it to come open when you least expect it.
The humble tailgate, something usually reliable enough on even the oldest trucks out there; it certainly shouldn't be a problem on a modern pickup. Unfortunately, their strikers misaligned and can cause their tailgates to drop without warning. Fortunately, the recall itself is rather simple, but you'll need to get it done if your truck happens to fit within the build dates Stellantis has determined are at fault.
Ram 1500, 2500, and 3500 trucks stems from strikers, the round piece you see whenever you open your tailgate, and the latch strikes. It's a really simple system, but does rely on proper alignment to function properly. It appears that those Rams have had their stickers installed in such a way to be misaligned from the factory and, while it seems your tailgate is closed, it's not actually secure as one of the latches is not properly clasped around the striker.
