A computer-generated image of the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics on the river Seine PARIS: France's sports minister said on Wednesday that there was no"specific" terror threat to the Paris Olympics and that organisers were planning to go ahead with the opening ceremony on the river Seine.
She said the opening ceremony on the Seine remained the"main plan" but suggested that an alternative was being prepared behind the scenes. Organisers have previously ruled out moving the location of the opening ceremony from the Seine but have suggested it could be downgraded - meaning only performers, and not athletes, might board the boats, for example.
Oudea-Castera said that rehearsals for the opening ceremony would take place on the river on May 27 and Jun 17.Speaking in parliament on Tuesday evening, she denied to lawmakers that the Olympics budget was slipping out of control. The current budget is €8.8 billion, comprising €4.4 billion for the organising committee and €4.4 billion for infrastructure.
