Agriculture and food security minister Mohamad Sabu says the government is waiting for feedback from health and environmental experts.
Mohamad Sabu said the government is making preparations to ensure an adequate supply of rice through new technology and research, as Malaysia currently imports 35% of its rice needs.
He said the health ministry and environmental experts were studying whether there was any potential danger before the government made any decision on the issue. It was reported that several countries, such as China, have suspended seafood imports from Japan as Tokyo began discharging treated radioactive water into the sea from yesterday.
