Employees who contribute to the Social Security Organisation (Perkeso) no longer need to pay for treatment at all 1,400 panel clinics starting this year. This benefit, however, is limited to eligible workers receiving benefits under the Occupational Disability Scheme or those suffering from work-related illnesses. Minister of Human Resources, Steven Sim Chee Keong, said this will ease access to healthcare, especially for low-income earners. Previously, workers had to pay for treatment upfront and then claim reimbursement, often incurring costs of RM150 to RM200 per visit. Now, they can simply walk into a Perkeso panel clinic, show their identification card, and receive treatment without any out-of-pocket expenses.
