Chaos ensued in the Dewan Rakyat yesterday after Pengkalan Chepa MP Ahmad Marzuk Shaary mentioned Ipoh Timor MP Howard Lee’s alleged interpretation of Quranic verse.
In the Dewan Rakyat yesterday, Ahmad Marzuk Shaary questioned Howard Lee for citing Quranic verses in a viral video.
The MP from PAS told the Dewan Rakyat that only scholars or muftis should be interpreting and explaining Quranic verses “It would be unfair of me to conclude that the “ill motives” existed if it was merely a presumption without an explicit explanation or phrases implying these “ill motives” being articulated by the member invoking Standing Order 36,” he said.
The deputy speaker also took the opportunity to remind that any MP who wishes to invoke Standing Order 36 in future must specify the particular part or phrase within the discussion that implies “ill motives”.
