SEREMBAN: The Seremban City Council (MBS) has dismissed claims of corruption in the awarding of trading lots at the Dataran Senawang 1, 2 and 3 Aidilfitri bazaar.
City mayor Datuk Masri Razali said irresponsible social media users were behind the allegations and this has been reported to the authorities.
"MBS initially offered 248 hawker lots during a session attended by, among others, four local councillors, representatives from the police and Rela, as well as the top management of the council. "The number of lots was later increased by 104 following a re-measurement exercise," he said here on Tuesday .
He added that the increase was made after certain restrictions were lifted by the National Security Council, the Local Government Development Ministry and Health Ministry.Masri said MBS has reported the matter to the police, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission for action.Separately, Masri said MBS had also received complaints on delays in issuing business permits to traders for Ramadan.
Masri said anyone with information on wrongdoings by MBS staff should report it to the council's Integrity Unit at 06-765 4650 or via its Public Complaint Management System at
