Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) announced that there will be no increase in electricity tariffs for 85% of domestic users in Malaysia until June 30, 2025, in line with the government's resolution. The government will absorb the costs through mechanisms like the Electricity Industry Fund (KWIE). The government will evaluate and review the electricity tariff structure before the period ends, considering coal, gas, and fuel prices before making further decisions.
KUALA LUMPUR: There will be no increase in electricity tariffs for 85 per cent of domestic users until June 30 next year, Tenaga Nasional Berhad chief financial officer Datuk Nazmi Othman said.
He said this at a media briefing on the implementation of the Fourth Regulatory Period at the Leo Moggie Convention Centre, TNB Platinum in Bangsar here today. Energy Commission chief executive officer Datuk Abdul Razib Dawood was also present. On Dec 20, the Energy Transition and Water Transformation Ministry announced in a statement that the government, on Dec 13, had decided there would be no increase in electricity tariffs, a decision is in line with the government’s commitment to ensuring the welfare of the people by continuing to protect domestic users through the implementation of targeted subsidies.
