Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof stated that no decision has been made regarding electricity tariff increases in Peninsular Malaysia. He emphasized that the Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (Petra) has not been consulted or informed by Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) about any recent announcements concerning tariff increases. Fadillah reiterated that Petra, along with the Energy Commission (ST), is still finalizing the new electricity tariff schedule, expected to take effect in July 2025.
Fadillah, who is also the minister of energy transition and water transformation, emphasised that his ministry has neither been consulted nor informed by Tenaga Nasional Bhd about any recent announcements concerning tariff increases in the peninsula. — Picture by Firdaus Latif.as a first-time user .
Fadillah reiterated that Petra, along with the Energy Commission , is still in the process of finalising the new electricity tariff schedule, which is expected to take effect starting July 2025. “In this matter, any announcement regarding electricity tariffs in the peninsula will be issued by the government,” he said.
He added that commercial and industrial users with high electricity consumption and substantial profits would need to pay electricity costs at actual market rates.
