The death of a UiTM student during a Palapes training exercise has been ruled as a sudden death due to heat stroke and multiple organ failure. Police investigation found no criminal element.

No criminal element has been found in the Nov 13 death of Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) student Muhammad Amir Rusyaidi, 26, during a Public University Reserve Officer Training Unit (Palapes) exercise at the Shah Alam campus. Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the investigation had been concluded after recording the statements of 64 people.

'The investigation classified as a sudden death report (SDR) was referred to the deputy public prosecutor and it was determined there was no offence committed by any party. 'The victim died because of heat stroke with multiple organ failure,' he told a press conference at the Selangor police headquarters on Friday (Jan 3).Comm Hussein said the victim's father had been informed that his son lost consciousness during a marching exercise and was sent to Hospital Shah Alam for treatment on Nov 10. 'Initial investigation showed that the student joined the UiTM Shah Alam Palapes in late October and was undergoing a fitness test before basic training started this year (2025). 'On the day of the incident, the student was punished by his trainer for falling behind during a run. He was made to do push-ups.During treatment at the hospital's emergency ward, Amir was half awake and had a high temperature, Comm Hussein said.'The student was also suffering from cramps and was given further treatment before being admitted to the intensive care unit.Previously, the Armed Forces said it was investigating a man's allegation that the death of his son during training at a public university was linked to bullying
