No Charges in 1BestariNet Tender Process

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has concluded its investigation into the 1BestariNet tender process and found no criminal elements. The MACC has recommended that the Education Ministry return to negotiations with YTL Communications Sdn Bhd to address any contract issues.

There will be no charges brought against any parties over 1BestariNet’s tender process under the Education Ministry , confirms the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission ( MACC ). The commission in a statement said it had been instructed by the deputy public prosecutor that there would not be any charges after investigations which started in September detected no criminal elements in the tender process implementation.

'As a follow-up action, investigations were carried out by the MACC's governance investigations division which focused on the administration aspects and financing of the contract between YTL Communications Sdn Bhd and the Education Ministry,' said the statement released Thursday (Dec 19). 'As such the deputy public prosecutor instructed MACC to present a full report of the investigation to the Education Ministry, attached with recommendations for improvement. It said among the recommended actions was for the ministry to return to the negotiation table with YTL Communications Sdn Bhd to identify any issues arising from the contract tender of the services which was agreed upon.
