While the worst of the rain is expected to have passed by Easter Sunday, forecasts will 'chop and change' before then, according to an expert

The ever-increasing rainfall over the country is set to continue for another day as "nightmare" showers threaten flooding and land damage for agricultural communities, but a break is expected early in Easter week.

It does not seem that we will see much change over the next 48 hours either as all forecasts indicate further heavy downpours offset by the positive of slightly milder temperatures.Projections into Easter period are unpredictable as of yet and will "chop and change" as time goes on, according to online weather expert Alan O'Reilly of Carlow Weather on X.

O'Reilly also cited the "nightmare" situation that Irish farmers are working under as heightened levels of rain seen since July continue to saturate land, raising the stakes for a spring dry spell to grace our shores soon, something Met Éireann is optimistic about.
