BN sec-gen says top leadership will adopt open approach to discuss with relevant quarters to ensure a government can be formed.
No Barisan Nasional members of Parliament had pledged their support for Perikatan Nasional chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to be appointed the 10th Prime Minister.
In a statement, BN secretary-general Dr Zambry Abd Kadir said this had been relayed to Istana Negara. Also in the statement, Zambry said the top leadership of BN had decided to take an open approach to discuss with relevant quarters to ensure a government can be formed for the sake of the country and the wellbeing of the people.
This seemingly contradicts Umno vice president Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s earlier statement that BN’s top leadership had decided it would not be supporting PN or Pakatan Harapan to form a government, and would remain as the opposition. Zambry meanwhile said BN asked for all relevant quarters to observe a cooling-off period in facing the current political situation.
