Nick Chubb blamed himself for Sunday’s epic collapse against the Jets, saying he should’ve gone down instead of scoring the final touchdown with 1:55 in the 31-30 loss.

In addition to Chubb blaming himself for the last TD, Amari Cooper blamed himself Tuesday for not recovering the onside kick, and Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah took the rap for Breece Hall’s TD catch at the end of the first half. But none of it would’ve happened if Chubb hadn’t scored, and Jacoby Brissett thrice took a knee to run out the clock.
Facing a first-and-10 at the Jets 12-yard line with 2:02 remaining and the Browns clinging to their 24-17 lead, Chubb rumbled 12 yards off left tackle, leaving cornerback D.J. Reed flailing on the ground in his wake. “I’ve never been so happy for a missed tackle in my life,” Saleh said after the game. “That was our only chance. Credit to the offense that stepped up and took advantage of a busted coverage on Corey’s play and left us enough time to get the onside and win.”
