Pictures from the occasion went viral quickly, with many taking an interest in Jiamin’s background.According to Hong Kong media, Jiamin is the daughter of Xtep's CEO, Ding Shui Po. The Chinese sports equipment manufacturing company was established in 2001, and is based in Hong Kong. Xtep is reported to be valued around S$2.5bil.Nicholas invested S$3mil in Xtep shares, becoming one of its shareholders.

The newlyweds are childhood sweethearts. They were classmates in junior high, and are said to be each others’ first loves. They got engaged in 2022, with Jiamin’s family receiving S$336mil in dowry. Nicholas attended the ceremony in casual wear, sporting a grey hoodie, baggy pants and a cap.
