National Hockey League players will not participate in the upcoming Winter Olympics in Beijing set for February
National Hockey League players will not take part in the men's ice hockey tournament at the upcoming 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.
The NHL announced on Wednesday that it will opt out because of the"regular-season schedule having been materially disrupted as a result of increasing COVID cases and a rising number of postponed games." The league is in the midst of a Covid-19 outbreak that has caused a pause in the season as well as the postponement of 50 games.The Beijing Olympics are scheduled to take place from February 4-20 and the NHL matches will be rescheduled during the February 6-22 period.
