PUTRAJAYA: Several non-governmental organisations have come out to express their gratitude to Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad over Malaysia's withdrawal from the Rome Statute.

Abdul Rani Kulup, the president of Martabat Jalinan Muhibbah Malaysia , said Malaysia was a peaceful country and did not need to accede to the statute."Why do we need the Statute of Rome?

"But if someone breaks the law, arrest them!" said Abdul Rani to reporters, after submitting a memorandum of thanks to the Prime Minister. "I would like to say thank you for the support towards the Prime Minister's decision, and I hope this support is genuine. "So if anyone breaks the law, action must be taken against them. Hopefully, when the government takes action to uphold the law, the government will be supported," said Abu Bakar.
