.NFL Network and Pro Football Hall of Fame postpone finalist announcement after Damar Hamlin injury

The 15 modern-era player finalists were to be announced during a television special on NFL Network on Tuesday night, but that was postponed"out of respect" for Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin, who went into cardiac arrest during a game Monday night. The announcement had been scheduled for 8 p.m. EST Tuesday night on the network.

"The decision to postpone the program for at least 24 hours was made after discussions involving officials with the Hall of Fame, the NFL and the NFL Network," the Pro Football Hall of Fame said in a statement. Hamlin's collapse led to Monday's game between the Bills and the Cincinnati Bengals being suspended during the first quarter. The NFL announced Tuesday the game would not be resumed this week and the league’s schedule for next week would go on as planned."The NFL continues to be in regular contact with the medical team caring for Damar Hamlin, and also the Bills and Bengals organizations and the NFL Players Association," the league said in a statement Tuesday.

Hamlin was in critical condition at University of Cincinnati Medical Center's intensive care unit as the rest of the Bills team flew back to Buffalo late Monday night.
