Seattle passed on Georgia defensive tackle Jalen Carter, considered by some to be the top non-quarterback in the draft. Carter fell to Philadelphia because of character concerns which include a reckless driving charge and showing up to his Pro Day nine pounds overweight and appearing to be winded. The Seahawks took Ohio State’s Jaxon Smith-Njigba, explosive enough and talented enough to play in the slot or split wide. Last year it was Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave in the first round. Smith-Njigba caught just five passes for 43 yards as his junior year was wiped out with a hamstring strain.
The Cardinals started the day at No. 3, then traded back to No. 12 and then to No. 6 to get an intriguing talent who graduated in three years and speaks Mandarin and Portuguese. So he’s smart. The again, he majored in journalism, so maybe not.
