Neymar Junior broke Pele's all-time record for the Brazil national side after scoring in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier.

The five-time world champions were in a rampant mood in the early hours of Saturday morning at the Estádio Estadual Jornalista Edgar Augusto Proença.However, the night belonged to the former Paris Saint-Germain star who scored two goals in the second half to complete the rout against Bolivia.

In doing so, Neymar surpassed the late Pele to become the national side's all-time leading scorer with 79 goals. BELEM, BRAZIL - SEPTEMBER 08: Neymar Jr. receives tribute from CBF after surpassing Pelé with 79 goals and becoming the highest scorer of the Brazilian national team in Fifa accounts after a FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifier match between Brazil and Bolivia at Mangueirao on September 08, 2023 in Belem, Brazil. Neymar had been stuck on 77 since the 2022 FIFA World Cup but his two goals on Saturday morning has taken him two goals clear of Pele, who passed away last year.

Real Madrid star Rodrygo was undoubtedly the Man of the Match after netting a brace himself, while Barcelona's Raphinha got the other goal for Selecao. The Brazilians will be in action on Monday evening once again as they take on Peru in another World Cup qualifier.
