NexV Manufacturing and Global NEV Technology join forces to explore the CKD assembly of commercial electric vans, aiming to establish Malaysia as a regional hub for sustainable technology.
NexV Manufacturing (NexV) and Global NEV Technology ( GNEV ) have announced a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to investigate the Complete Knock Down (CKD) assembly of commercial electric vehicles (EVs). The focus of this collaboration is on a GNEV branded electric van manufactured by China's Wuling . Once a formal agreement is finalized, with a target date of mid-February, the partnership could see its first EV van produced in the first quarter of 2026.
This MoU is considered a significant step forward in Malaysia's green technology transition. Lim Kwee Shyan, CEO of NexV, stated, 'By combining our strengths, we aim to establish a new standard for NEV assembly and manufacturing in the region.' Andrew Thu Pong Fan, executive director of GNEV, echoed this sentiment, saying, 'We are enthusiastic about the possibilities offered by this partnership and believe it will not only introduce innovative NEV solutions to the market but also contribute to Malaysia's vision of becoming a regional hub for sustainable technology.'This collaboration comes on the heels of recent agreements involving GNEV. Last month, Ingress Corporation and GNEV signed an MoU to explore the importation, assembly, and distribution of Wuling's commercial EVs for both the Malaysian market and exports. GNEV also has a planned NEV manufacturing plant in Chembong, Negeri Sembilan, set to begin operations in the second quarter of 2025. This factory is already in place with assembly deals for various models. The rapid development of Malaysia's EV sector is evident through these strategic partnerships
