The Punch reports that there is tension and uncertainty in Rivers over the conduct of today’s LGA elections in the state. The newspaper says 42 bodies have been recovered from the water following a boat accident that occurred in Mokwa LGA of Niger state. The Nation reports that Siminalayi Fubara, governor of Rivers, and the Nigeria Police Force have clashed over an alleged plot to scuttle today’s LGA elections in the state. The newspaper says the federal government has exempted 63 items from value-added tax .
