More than two decades later, Lionsgate will return to the supernatural horror franchise with a new The Blair Witch Project movie.
According to Production Weekly , independent filmmaker Oliver Park has been tapped to helm the untitled Blair Witch sequel. Filming is expected to begin in late summer or fall of this year.A Night of Horror: Nightmare Radio. However, the untitled found footage movie marks his first project with a major studio.Lionsgate’s new The Blair Witch Project will be produced by Haxan Films, the same company behind the original 1999 movie.
The original centered around a group of students making a documentary on the spooky folklore of Burkittsville, Maryland. Since its debut, the film garnered critical and commercial success. It took home a worldwide gross of over $240 million against a reported less than $1 million budget.
