The Anchorage Economic Development Corporation released its new Business Confidence Survey for Anchorage, which shows businesses are still optimistic, but slightly more cautious about the economy as a whole.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The Anchorage Economic Development Corporation told the Chamber of Commerce Wednesday that their annual business community survey shows “good news” about Anchorage’s economy.

“And then third, interestingly, the condition of the state economy, and 40% of respondents said that could potentially be a barrier to growth.”“It’s a very visible issue right now in Anchorage, sometimes camps are outside of businesses, and that impacts the amount of foot traffic that’s going through their doors,” Wright said.

“Small retailers like us are having challenges that we’ve never faced before with online competition,” she said. “And I think it’s not only small retailers, it’s probably across all bands of retail.”
