KOTA KINABALU: The new Sabah and Sarawak Chief Judge Datuk Abang Iskandar Abang Hashim wants to reach out to as many people as possible, especially those who do not have access to justice.
The 61-year-old said due to geographical challenges, many in Sabah and Sarawak were not able to get access to the judicial system.
“So I hope to reach out to as many as possible, especially those who feel they do not have access to justice, ” he said after clocking in to work at the Kota Kinabalu High Court yesterday.“They have done a fantastic job, ” he said.Among these include strengthening and further pursuing the implementation of Artificial Intelligence system to assist in meting out sentences in court.
“We are all aware that Sabah and Sarawak have led in the implementation of AI in the judiciary system, so we’ll try to develop this further, ” Abang Iskandar said, adding that other areas would also be improved. Abang Iskandar’s appointment was effective Feb 20. He replaced Tan Sri David Wong Dak Wah, who retired on Feb 19.
