The Jets’ signing of former Green Bay and Baltimore running back Ty Montgomery will provide coach Adam Gase with a chance to get creative with his playbook.

New York Jets general manager Mike Maccagnan made some big splashes in NFL free agency last month, with big-ticket signings such as Le’Veon Bell and C.J. Mosley.
Montgomery burst onto the NFL scene in 2016, his second year. The college wideout was moved to running back after Green Bay suffered a rash of injuries in its backfield, and was a potent weapon for the Packers, rushing for 477 yards at 5.9 yards per carry while still often lining up wide and running the so-called jet sweep.
He had 25 touches from scrimmage with the Ravens, but none in the playoff loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.
