New govt in Melaka on hold as Umno lawmaker, defectors jostle for CM post

It is learnt that Umno hopes to field an experienced candidate who is able to bring prompt changes within a short period of time.

Hence, Umno wants to"prove its mettle" to gain the confidence of the locals by bringing in immediate changes. A Pakatan lawmaker who requested anonymity revealed that one defector from their side had not officially exited from the coalition."Anyway, we have told Chief Minister Adly Zahari to stand firm if anyone who was fickle in their stand in this crisis and demands the chief minister's post in order to ensure that Pakatan remained as the state government," he said.

Meanwhile, Adly and his predecessor Datuk Seri Idris Haron commended each other in separate Facebook postings on Saturday .
