, Carey revealed the idea didn't even cross his mind at the time.
"I was really quick to just ring Geoff Walsh and Greg Miller and rang straight away... The thought was, they say fight or flight," Carey said of the immediate aftermath to the affair going public. "But straight away the thought for me was, 'I have got to walk away'. There was no other thought in my mind."There was no thought. The apology thing never really came into mind at that point. It was just, 'I have to separate myself from the club'."Carey had spent 12 years at North Melbourne prior to his sensational exit, and won two premierships with the club, on top of scores of personal accolades including seven All-Australian jumpers, four as captain.
On the same podcast this week, former Kangaroos coach Denis Pagan said he wished Carey had apologised to Stevens."I wish we could have changed it.
