Labor has promised to create a NSW rental commissioner to advocate for renters, make it easier for renters to have pets in their homes, boost rental supply in the regions and deliver five year security funding for community groups and service providers. The opposing party is also planning to boost social housing by introducing a mandatory requirement for 30 per cent of all homes to be built on surplus government land.
"They have had twelve year to solve the rental crisis in NSW… I think a lot of the people will approach these announcements on the eve of an election in a cynical way," he said."If these are good initiatives, why weren't they done sooner?"
