With Smoker's cameo at the end of One Piece season 1, fans of the long-running manga series can expect to see Luffy's dad in One Piece season 2.

While this in and of itself was an awesome reveal, it also hints at something much bigger for One Piece season 2 than just a Smoker teaser - and that's the inclusion of Luffy's dad, Monkey D. Dragon.
Smoker's One Piece Debut Sets Up Luffy's Father In Live-Action When Smoker was introduced in the Loguetown arc, he was hellbent on capturing Luffy and the rest of the Straw Hat pirates. In addition to being a formidable adversary, Smoker also brought about the intimidating Marine force, thus introducing a whole new host of challenges for Luffy and the gang to overcome.
One Piece Season 1's Final Episode Teases The Revolutionary Army The second hint regarding Monkey D. Dragon's debut in One Piece season 2 is a scene where Kaya looks at a newspaper featuring an article about the Revolutionary Army. Monkey D. Dragon is one of the founding members and the supreme commander of the Revolutionary Army.
