THREE individuals were arrested in Pasay City for selling registered SIM cards which are allegedly used for fraudulent purposes, such as online scams, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said, Tuesday.
In a report to the Bureau of Investigation-Cybercrime Division , the operation stemmed from the information that several individuals were selling registered sim cards on Facebook specifically on the 'SIM Card Philippines Buying and Selling' group name.The suspects were arrested in two separate operations on September 8, NBI said.
'In a comment to one of the posts in the said Facebook group, the person using the account with name Nopce Naldz said he is selling or offering for sale 1,000 pieces of sim cards. In a negotiation with a poseur customer, Naldz said that he had 2,100 pieces of registered sim cards at the price of 10 each pesos.Poseur customer agreed to meet with Naldz in a convenience store at Clemente Jose Street Apelo Cruz Extension, Malibay, Pasay City,' the bureau said in a statement.
