LOCAL EFFORT. MANILA, Philippines–The National Bureau of Investigation-Environmental Crime Division on Tuesday filed before the Department of Justice a criminal complaint against 35 individuals in connection with the sinking of MT Princess Empress, which caused an oil spill in Oriental Mindoro and parts of Batangas province.

Facing complaints for multiple counts of falsification by a private individual and multiple uses of falsified documents under Article 172 in relation to Article 171 of the Revised Penal Code are seven incorporators and directors of RDC Reield Marines Services Inc., six crew members of MT Princess Empress and 19 members of the Philippine Coast Guard for issuing an authenticated Certificate of Public Convenience when no original exists.
