National City man arrested, charged with murder in 2003 double homicide outside El Cajon [Breaking]
A 45-year-old National City man pleaded not guilty to two counts of murder Friday in the 2003 “execution-style” killings of a man and his teenage nephew outside El Cajon.
Deputy District Attorney Kyle Sutterley said Romero was ordered to remain jailed without bail when he was arraigned at the El Cajon Courthouse. The victims were Patrick John Greene, 30, of San Diego, and Christopher Brandon Vigil, 17, of Alpine. In 2003, The Union-Tribune reported that sheriff’s deputies found them dead, lying face down on the side of Willow Glen Drive shortly before 6 a.m. Jan. 21.Sutterley said Friday each victim was shot in the back of the head, “execution-style.”
In a news release announcing the arrest Friday, Sheriff’s homicide Lt. Chris Steffen said deputies responded to the reports of gunfire and found Greene and Vigil.
