The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for parts of 3 New Jersey counties and a gale watch for high winds along the Jersey Shore.
A winter weather advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service for Sussex, Morris, Warren and western Passaic counties where slippery roads and challenging commutes are likely Wednesday morning and evening.
The advisory runs until midnight in western Passaic where as much as 5 inches of snow might fall. The weather service’s official forecast for West Milford predicts 3.2 inches of snow. Northwestern New Jersey is expected to see 2 to 5 inches of snow from a winter storm on Wednesday that could drop a coating to 2 inches of snow across the northern half of the state. Heavy rain and strong winds up to 50 mph along the Jersey Shore are also in the forecast.In general, an inch to an inch and a half-of rain is expected in most of New Jersey with precipitation beginning around 7 a.m.
Windy conditions will be an issue across the state with gust of 25 to 35 mph in most places. Along the Jersey Shore gusts could reach as high as 50 mph. A gale watch has been issued along the coast.
