Apoya una mano sobre una mesa blanca y con la otra espolvorea partículas que parecen confeti de cristal. Para el vitralista italiano que desde 1995 vive en México, el arte más poderoso nace de la luz. “La luz, con el vidrio, te mueve hasta el fondo, como cuando uno ve un vitral en una iglesia y tiene la luz precisa”, dice el artista de 81 años. El maestro no es maestro porque lleve más de medio siglo creando vitrales por encargo. O sí, pero no sólo.
Podría ser el Yoda de los vitrales, pero hasta ese momento Narcissus nunca había empleado su técnica de fusión en 161 paneles de 1,2 x 1,5 metros para retratar 90 figuras. A sus 73 años, aún le quedaban monstruos por domar. —— El maestro es lo que se esperaría de un artista que nació en Roma a mediados de la guerra. La melena blanca. Los lentes de pasta.
