The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, NAPTIP, has recovered two minors who were suspected to have been trafficked by their relatives. DAILY POST gathered that the children, four-month-old Aisha Shehu and 11-year-old Usman Kabiru, were rescued from Abuja and Lagos, respectively.
The Gombe State Commander of NAPTIP , Aminu Shira, confirmed the rescue operations, stating the agency's commitment to protecting lives. Shira said the recovery of the children followed the arrest of 16 suspects by the police in January, with investigations revealing cases of child trafficking, sale of babies, and sexual exploitation.
Shira also disclosed that NAPTIP frowns at trafficking, stating that “Upon the conclusion of the investigation of alleged child trafficking, sale of babies and sexual exploitation, the nine suspects have been charged for legal actions appropriately and their cases filed before the Federal and State Higher Court Gombe Judiciary Division with different count charges on the basis of the evidence adduced for their possible prosecution.
