A 25-year-old Naperville man has been charged with drug-induced homicide, accused of providing the drugs that led to the death of a man in Aurora in 2020, officials said Friday.
Aurora police responded on Oct. 2, 2020, for a report of a 24-year-old man who was unconscious and not breathing in a home on the 200 block of South Commonwealth Avenue in the city, officials said. Upon arrival, police found the man dead in an upstairs bedroom.Detectives began interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence and the Kane County Coroner’s Office performed an autopsy, which showed the man died from a combination of fentanyl and ketamine intoxication, police said.
Through the course of the investigation, police said they found evidence that the man and Samuel Nesnidal of Naperville exchanged text messages about a potential drug transaction the day before the man’s death.Nesnidal is accused of providing two grams of ketamine and two ounces of a “drink” to the man, police said. Ketamine is a medication primarily used for induction and maintenance of anesthesia, according to police.
The Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office authorized one count of drug-induced homicide against Nesnidal, of the 2300 block of Putnam Drive. Nesnidal was arrested in Yorkville on Thursday.
