: Husbands or family members should not leave mothers experiencing ‘Baby Blues’ or postpartum depression alone at home, said Women, Family, and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy ShukriShe said that if a mother shows symptoms, it should not be taken lightly as it can pose dangers to those around her.
“Do not leave them alone with a small baby. In such situations, they may not realise that despite availability of medication or treatment, the severity of the depression they face can lead to undesirable outcomes,“ she said. Nancy said no matter how busy a husband is, as a partner, they need to take note of their wife’s situation after childbirth because the hormones in their bodies will change, which can affect their emotions.
