The issue of period spot checks reared its ugly head again when students at a vocational college were forced to undergo thePeriod spot checks at the ERT Vocational College in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur have allegedly been going on for some time but reportedly stopped during the height of the scandal earlier this year.
This latest incident caught widespread attention on social media, and prompted a visit by Education Minister Radzi Jidin to meet with the students - without teachers and wardens present. The Education Ministry had said in June that it would set up a committee to look into period spot checks but there have been very little developments on this since.
