KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 23 — Datuk Mohd Nazifuddin Najib, the son of former prime minister and Umno president Datuk Seri Najib Razak, will contest for the Langkawi Umno division chief post in the party’s election.
“The entry by Mohd Nazifuddin, who is only 40 years old, is taken as a positive development for the Umno division in facing the coming state election. “So far, the feedback received has been positive,” said the source who is close to Mohd Nazifuddin in Alor Setar, Kedah yesterday. “So far, I have been informed that Nor Saidi has yet to submit his nomination form and we will wait until the closing date to determine the post he is contesting in,” said the source to the Malay daily.
