PETALING JAYA: Former premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak has said that he did not speak to a news portal over an article on the formation of a new political coalition.

"Saya tak pernah cakap dengan"The Malaya Post" pun. Kenapa tiba-tiba petik nama saya? ," he asked in a Facebook post on Monday morning .He is believed to be referring to the article by The Malaya Post entitled"Najib Razak sokong pembentukan koalisi politik baharu ", which was published on the site on Sunday night.

The article noted that opposition MPs agreed to support the coalition, comprising Bersatu, Umno, PAS, GPS, Warisan and several PKR leaders, led by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad. The Malaya Post also wrote that the matter"was confirmed by Najib himself when contacted".On Sunday, several key leaders of the ruling government parties and from the Opposition attended a special meeting at a hotel in Petaling Jaya.

Before that, there had been separate meetings involving several political parties amid talk of a possible realignment of the country’s political landscape. Party leaders were tight-lipped as to what was discussed at the closed-door meetings, in the federal capital and Petaling Jaya, which drew intense media attention.

Anwar during an event at his Bukit Segambut residence on Sunday night, said his side is awaiting information on what he described as an attempt to set up a new government.
