A Na'vi space battle existed in one version of Avatar 2. 'There was one idea of a space battle with Na'vi. That idea got a lot of traction, and we talked a lot about it. We were struggling, though. How would that work with the story that we're telling?'
Avatar: The Way of Water writer, Rick Jaffa, recently explained that a space battle was cut from the film's script. Set 14 years after the Na'vi took down the Resources Development Administration in Avatar, the fantasy adventure sequel follows Jake Sully and his Na'vi wife Neytiri as they fight to protect their family and home from a new threat. The RDA returns with a recombinant Colonel Miles Quaritch , in a grown Na'vi body with the cloned mind of the soldier.
"There was one idea of a space battle with Na'vi. That idea got a lot of traction, and we talked a lot about it. We were struggling, though. How would that work with the story that we're telling? Jim said, 'Well, give me a few weeks.' He went off and he wrote an entire script. And, by the way, a brilliant script."
