A 58-year-old man doing work for a private company on a motorized scissor lift outside a Middletown shopping center was killed Tuesday after the lift made contact with power lines and he fell 20 feet, authorities said.
Kevin McAdorey was working on the lift at the shopping center at 1040 Route 35 when he tumbled to the ground just before 12:30 p.m.,Authorities aren’t sure if he died of electrocution, the fall or a combination. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration and Middletown police are investigating.
Police didn’t immediately provide the name of the company McAdorey worked for, but noted it was not a public utility company. The 70,000-square-foot strip mall houses several businesses including a pizzeria, a liquor store and a nail salon.
