Michael Rogers, 25, of Elizabeth, was found guilty Tuesday following a five-week long trial in Union County Superior Court, prosecutors said. The jury deliberated for less than two days before convicting Rogers of first-degree murder and two weapons related offenses, officials said.
Elizabeth Police located 32-year-old Antwoine Thompson near Second and Bond Streets on the afternoon of Apr. 26, 2021, after he had sustained six gunshot wounds, authorities said. He was rushed to Trinitas Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead shortly before 3 p.m., prosecutors said.
