MyEG is working with BeiTou IT in establishing an AI Innovation Cooperation Centre in Malaysia, leading to the first national AI model.
MyEG Services Bhd, a digital service provider, is reported to be collaborating with China’s state owned Guangxi BeiTou IT Innovation Technology Investment Group Co Ltd to develop a national AI model. According to MyEG, the companies will be establishing an AI Innovation Cooperation Centre in Malaysia, and the model will serve as a foundation for various AI applications in the country.
The centre is said to be run by a joint-venture between MyEG and the Guangxi-owned enterprise, with its focus being the development of AI infrastructure. It will apparently create Malaysia’s foundational AI model, support research and development, and contribute to market growth. The company’s ownership will be determined via each party’s capital contribution, with its final equity shares being decided later on. The agreement will be valid for five years, with a possible renewal providing that both parties agree to it. As per the agreement, BeiTou IT will mostly contribute technological expertise, AI talent, and access to global market channels.
The agreement was officially exchanged on Thursday, in the presence of Guangxi’s Governor, Lan Tianli, and the Malaysian Investment, Trade and Industry Minister, Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz. Guangxi’s provincial government allocated RMB10 billion through an investment fund to expedite AI and digital economy projects under the China-Asean initiative.
